BUDGETING FOR THE PROBATE PROCESS

We understand that advance budgeting is essential when preparing for the Probate process. However, unfortunately, it is difficult to calculate a precise amount, and there is no one-size-fits-all price for Probate due to the sheer diversity in estate planning.

The actual cost of Probate can vary widely since each Estate has its own unique characteristics, depending on its size, complexity, and value.

Here's what you should take into account when budgeting for the Probate process:

  • Probate Court Fees: The standard Probate court fee is £155. This covers the administrative costs of processing the Probate application. There is an additional charge of £1.50 for each copy of the Probate you require, which is necessary for dealing with the deceased's assets.

  • Additional Costs: In addition to court fees, you should expect solicitors' fees, which vary widely. Again, these fees will reflect the professional advice required to address the varying degrees of complexity within the Estate.
